I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and still enjoy visits back to my roots in the desert and the beautiful Northern Arizona mountains. In 1970 Bob, my husband, and I and our growing family decided to leave the big city and move to the rural Missouri Ozarks, over-looking beautiful Lake Stockton. Over the years, while working and helping to raise our 4 children, I managed to squeeze in more drawing and art study. Now that my children are grown, I can devote more time to my love of art. My newest challenge is painting plein air, or on site. I've met some wonderful folks, and just being out in nature is a gift in itself, bugs and all!
I'd have to say my style of painting is reality, with a little impressionism thrown in. Then once in a while it's the other way around, depending on what moves me at that moment. When doing still lives I usually prefer soft pastels. Oils work best for me when doing plein air landscapes. I'm a member and on the board for a new co-op Gallery, "Art Sync", in Bolivar, MO. And member of some other great groups such the Springfield Regional Arts Council, Springfield, Missouri and a member and previous President of the Polk County Art Association, Bolivar, Missouri. I'm also one of the founding members of the Sac Arts Council of Stockton, MO.
I've learned from and been inspired by many artists. I've also enjoyed attending and studying at art workshops with Albert Handell, Dennis Yates, John Roush and Carol Ranney. Some of my awards are Best of Shows, and first places in local and area shows, but each painting I do is a learning experience, as I try to grow as an artist each day and to paint that "perfect" painting. I'm proud to be represented by the Waverly House Gallery, in Springfield, Missouri, and to have many local collectors, as well as collectors in Alabama, Arizona, Mississippi and Oregon.
